Rhon-a-logue: Leave no book unfinished.

A faithful list of all the books I read (starting in January, 2005). Starting October 2007, also includes reviews and opinions from the sister who started it all with her attempt at Christmas 2004 to recall all the books she had read that year. Now you can find out exactly what we think about everything we read.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime - Mark Haddon

I know I'm awfully late to the party on this one, but what a tremendous book! It's been on my to-be-read list for a while, and I saw it at our local used book store, so I picked it up. What a beautiful, thoughtful, heartbreaking story. I cried in bed reading in it, because the idea of raising an autistic child and not being able to hug them and cuddle them is pretty scary to someone parenting a very affectionate toddler. Much has been made about Haddon's realism and sympathy in writing from the viewpoint of an autistic lad, and everyone has been on the money with their praise. I want to lend this my sister-in-law, who works with autistic kids, but she's still hormonal from childbirth, so the timing is a little off. In a month or two... This was my 5th book for the month, bringing me to 69 year-to-date.

September 2007.

I've had my copy for over a year and still haven't gotten to it. This review just bumped it up.
