Rhon-a-logue: Leave no book unfinished.

A faithful list of all the books I read (starting in January, 2005). Starting October 2007, also includes reviews and opinions from the sister who started it all with her attempt at Christmas 2004 to recall all the books she had read that year. Now you can find out exactly what we think about everything we read.

Home Improvement

Home Improvement - Barbara Daly

One of my beloved "Love and Laughter" titles from Harlequin. Bathtub reread. Still amusing after all these years.

January 2007.

Assignment: Twins

Assignment: Twins - Leigh Michaels

Another bathtub Harlequin reread. My basement is full of guilty pleasure books that I periodically think of giving away, but before I can, I need to read them one more time to be sure. And then, like this one, most of them end up staying in their untidy piles beside the freezer.

Trading Places With the Boss

Trading Places With the Boss - Raye Morgan

Bathtub Harlequin re-read. Definitely meant to be in the charity box.

The Marriage Market

The Marriage Market - Leigh Michaels

Leigh Michaels has been one of my favourite Harlequin authors since I was in high school and Evelyn Jones gave me Capture a Shadow to read. (Seriously, check it out. Innocent and funny in a 1980's sort of way. And a zippered track suit love scene that predates Juicy Couture). Before rom-com was a Harlequin line, there was Leigh Michaels. Sadly, this one was not up to her usual quality. Also in the charity box, after re-reading it in the bathtub, it is destined for the give away pile.

Pencil Him In

Pencil Him In - Molly O'Keefe

Harlequin re-read. Picked it up because it was in a box with a bunch of toys I was planning to donate to charity, and I couldn't remember if that was intentional, or accidental. So, perfect excuse to draw a hot bubble bath and settle in. The verdict - OK to keep.

Finding Your Way Home

Finding Your Way Home: A Soul Survivor Kit - Melodie Beattie

So-so. I kind of skimmed it, which is unusual for me because I usually read every word on every page no matter how bad the writing is. However, skimming it made it tolerable. I'd sent my hubby to Chapters to get one of her affirmation books (they'd been recommended to me), but he thought this one looked interesting. I'm still willing to look at her affirmations, but I won't be reading another book of her "fabric of life" theories.

Dragonfly in Amber

Dragonfly in Amber - Diana Gabaldon

Good - sequel to Outlander. Christmas gift from the hubby (he wrapped it in a 'Reading Is Sexy' t-shirt). Have I mentioned how much I love Jamie? Sigh.

the only good thing anyone has ever done

the only good thing anyone has ever done - Sandra Newman

Unusual format, but ultimately it distracted from the plot, not enhanced it. Lent to me by my sister in Halifax. Strangely, as I type this, I have a hard time remembering what the good thing was (I suppose it was the adoption). Not recommended, unless you have nothing else to read. And this was my final book finished in 2006. I read 3 in December, and 75 all year. That sets my new annual record. My mom graciously pointed out that if I recorded all the books I read to Squeak, my total would be much higher!

Staying Afloat When the Water Gets Rough

Staying Afloat When the Water Gets Rough - How To Live In A Rapidly Changing World - David B. Posen, M.D.

Okay. Lent to me by a coworker who was reading it to help prepare for our impending layoffs.

Outlander

Outlander - Diana Gabaldon

Okay, I'm late to the party, but I've now officially joined the Jamie Fraser swooning woman fan club. This was a good book, lent to me by my sister in Halifax in the summer, but slow to make its way to the top of my reading pile. It has everything - historical romance, time travel, period novel - so I can completely understand why it is so popular. Mentioned it casually at lunch to an old co-worker, and the swooning began all over again. (I should disclose that we also swooned for "Dean" from the TV show Supernatural - but that's not a book, so I move on.) I'd recommend this to any woman, especially one who is maybe missing a bit of humour and romance in her daily life. Jamie is the man!

Diabetes Burnout

Diabetes Burnout -

Good book for anyone living with a diabetic. The advice was sound, the explanations were enlightening. Waiting to hear what the diabetic in my life thinks of it (and trying not to pressure him/her to read it). That made 3 for the month of November, and 72 books YTD.
